IALA Workshop on Ranging Mode

The International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) hosted a workshop on Ranging Mode (R-Mode) at IALA Headquarters, Saint-Germain-en-Laye from 9-12 September 2019.

This IALA workshop was aiming to achieve the following:

• Give participants an overview about the recent status of world-wide R-Mode activities and latest results;
• Define R-Mode requirements for implementation with VDES;
• Develop a roadmap for the standardisation and implementation of R-Mode on MF and VHF transmissions.

The R-Mode Baltic project was among the main organisers of the event and contributed input to various sessions.

Several project partners of the R-Mode Baltic project participated in the workshop and presented the ongoing activities on R-Mode development in the Baltic Sea region.
The roadmap to the implementation  of the R-Mode testbed and R-Mode standardisation was discussed.
