Beside the implementation of the R-Mode Baltic test bed the project team works also on documents that will help other national maritime service provider to understand what is R-Mode, what are the requirements on a backup system to GNSS and what are the capabilities of the R-Mode system. Furthermore, documents will be made available that documents the project progress with signal design, system design, test bed implementation, receiver and base station hardware development, application development and tests.
R-Mode Baltic 2 Final Report
The report provides an comprehensive overview about the R-Mode Baltic 2 achievements with respect to R-Mode Baltic test bed extension, test bed evaluation, synchronisation experiments and R-Mode standardisation activities.
R-Mode Baltic - Baseline and Priorities
The R-Mode Baltic baseline and priorities report summarises requirements with respect to a backup system to GNSS which can be found in official documents of international maritime organisations. Furthermore, it introduces available terrestrial radionavigation systems and shows the current status of R-Mode activities worldwide. Based on that R-Mode Baltic test bed requirements on the system and service are deduced.
MF/VDES R-Mode Coverage Prediction and Accuracy Estimation report
The MF/VDES R-Mode Coverage Prediction and Accuracy Estimation report provides an overview about the estimated performance of the VDES R-Mode service and the combined MF and VDES R-Mode services in the southern Baltic Sea. It was conducted by the General Lighthouse Authorities’ Research & Development Directorate (GRAD) on behalf of the R-Mode Baltic project.
AIS Ranging and Positioning - concept and signal design
A report which introduces the detailed technical concept of the AIS signal utilization in the R-Mode system. It also presents the software implementation of the AIS physical layer and discusses the assumptions for the upcoming (at that time) measurement campaigns of the R-Mode system.
AIS and VDES Ranging - measurements results
A report which introduces the detailed technical concept of the VDES signal utilization in the R-Mode system, as well as additional information regarding the measurement methodology and implementation of the R-Mode system (including the AIS and VDES components). It also discusses the results of the measurement campaigns of the R-Mode system that took place in 2019 on the Baltic Sea waters and was dedicated to the R-Mode AIS and R-Mode VDES components.
Usage of Class D/S Amplifier - E&I amplifier as alternative for MF R/DGNSS-Mode
This documents will report about measurements on a new D/S class amplifier for the usage of MF transmissions containing DGNSS and R-Mode signals.
