R-Mode Baltic 2 Project Conference

The project R-Mode Baltic 2 will hold its final conference as an online event on May 16, 2022.

R-Mode: providing resilient navigation in the Baltic Sea

The sole dependency on satellite navigation systems in the maritime domain is a weakness that blocks the way towards resilient position, navigation and time information. The development of alternatives to satellite navigation systems are of utmost importance. The R-Mode Baltic 2 project team contributes to resilient navigation by the development and installation of a Ranging-Mode (R-Mode) testbed in the Southern Baltic Sea, responding to challenges that have been revealed by the R-Mode Baltic project and presenting improvements to the system. The R-Mode technology itself is a promising approach that implements a terrestrial navigation system within already existing maritime radio infrastructure.

During the conference we will give you an overview about the R-Mode Baltic test bed that has been extended during the 9-month R-Mode Baltic 2 project implementation. Furthermore, we will present the results of VDES and MF R-Mode measurements in the test bed. In addition, R-Mode tools and solutions developed in the project and the results of the test of new R-Mode concepts for time synchronisation and real-time estimation of MF R-Mode phase corrections will be presented. At the end we will give you the chance to speak with navigation experts about R-Mode and beyond.
